Sharbad Gula, the "Flower Girl", the "Afghan Mona Lisa", was the first Afghan girl to be photographed by the famous photographer Steve McCurry back in 1985, and her face on the cover of the National Geographic magazine became famous all over the world. As she had lost almost all her family when the Russians attacked her village, I made her face more troubled by her personal fate than in the real picture.
